I\u2019d never been before, so as the plane took off I was quietly hoping the nerves would turn into excitement \u2014 and thankfully, they did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flying over the Canary Islands was the turning point. Seeing those little dots of land surrounded by endless blue sea instantly calmed me. By the time I landed, I already felt like I\u2019d made the right choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stepping off the plane and spotting the sea almost straight away sealed it for me. There was something so unique about seeing the ocean right there, so close to the airport. I knew I was in for a good week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Choosing the Right Hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I booked through TUI and spent a&nbsp;<em>lot<\/em>&nbsp;of time researching where to stay. Travelling alone meant I wanted somewhere I\u2019d feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe. At \u00a31,200 for a one-week all-inclusive stay, it wasn\u2019t a cheap holiday for me \u2014 so it had to be right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a long wish list (maybe&nbsp;<em>too<\/em>&nbsp;long):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All-inclusive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A shaped pool (I can\u2019t stand plain rectangular ones!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close to the beach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nice evening walks nearby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pool that wasn\u2019t freezing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A jacuzzi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Padded sun loungers if possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A gym<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong reviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And hopefully a decent view<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Somehow, the H10 Conquistador ticked nearly every box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bowenandcotravel.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/44bc7986-ad69-4cf8-a92e-10b845e49cd3-1_all_424-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-191\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7500035597829956;width:367px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First Impressions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel itself was pretty much perfect. My room was comfortable and overlooked the pool, which was a great start. The restaurant was huge and offered a wide variety of food, with plenty of choice every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pool area was one of my favourite spots. The water was a good temperature, there were plenty of sunbeds, and there was a separate adults-only area with jacuzzi-style jets. There was also a section with padded loungers and sofas overlooking the sea \u2014 which quickly became my go-to place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gym wasn\u2019t massive, but it had more than enough equipment to keep me happy during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dining Solo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only downside came during dinner. As one of the very few solo travellers, I noticed we were often seated away from everyone else, which did feel a little awkward at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evenings at the hotel were lively, with entertainment most nights. After a couple of evenings sitting alone, though, I started to feel slightly uncomfortable \u2014 especially when you have to leave your seat to get a drink and hope no one takes it. Solo travel problems!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Finding My Own Rhythm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the first two nights, I decided to venture out. Just a short walk from the hotel was the promenade, lined with bars overlooking the sea. That quickly became my evening routine \u2014 sitting with a beer, watching the sun set, and soaking it all in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out there, I never felt lonely. I felt relaxed, content, and genuinely grateful to be in such a beautiful place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve never been much of a reader, but something about this trip changed that. Between reading and a bit of phone scrolling, I spent hours on those padded loungers by the sea \u2014 and even managed to read two full books, which felt like a win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Holiday Surprise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Midway through the week, I had a small disaster when my bathroom started leaking and flooded the floor. I rang reception, expecting a bit of hassle \u2014 but within an hour I was moved to a new room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even better, they upgraded me to the Elite level with stunning ocean views. The staff handled everything quickly and professionally, and it completely turned a stressful moment into a positive experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All in all, this was a brilliant holiday and one I still recommend to anyone considering Tenerife \u2014 especially solo travellers.
